In-Depth Information
Set off from the cathedral in
St Davids
, heading out of town along the A487 in the direction of Solva. At
the edge of town, turn left following the sign for National Cycle Route 4. Flat, rural roads lead you through agri-
cultural land to little
Middle Mill
. Cross over the stone bridge and veer right. If you're in need of a break or
interested in local history, the
Solva Woollen Mill
(

) makes a good stop. Continue east along quiet
lanes to a T-junction where the route goes right, and then right again at the second T-junction. Next you'll hit the
busier A487 and you need to turn left along this road for a brief spell down to the coast at
Newgale Sands
,
where there's a long sand and pebble beach. When the road forks, veer right along the quiet coast road. From here
it's a feast for the eyes but hard work for the legs along a stunning stretch of coast featuring a series of pictur-
esque bays. The road undulates up and down some short but tough hills past
Nolton Haven
and
Druid-
ston Haven
to
Broad Haven
. Catch your breath at this busy seaside village before turning inland along the
A48. As you cycle out of the village, the road forks. Veer left along Long Lane and then right at the next T-junc-
tion. You'll soon rejoin the A48 towards
Haverfordwest
, but there is a dedicated cycle path. From here it's
an easy 3.5 miles into town.
