Dre-fach Felindre
The Cambrian Mills factory, world famous for its high-quality woollen products, closed in
1984 and the
National Wool Museum

has taken its place. Former mill workers are often on hand to
get the machines clickety-clacking, but there's also a working commercial mill next door
where you can watch the operations from a viewing platform. A cafe is on site, as is a gift
shop selling snugly woollen blankets.
The museum is positioned in verdant countryside at Dre-fach Felindre, 14 miles north
of Carmarthen and 14 miles southeast of Cardigan, signposted from the A484.
Henllan
Pocket-sized steam locomotives puff their way along the wonderful little
Teifi Valley Railway

, a 2-mile stretch of
narrow-gauge line at Henllan (14 miles southeast of Cardigan). They run to a complicated
timetable, so check on the website or with the Cardigan tourist office before making the
trip.
Cenarth
The village of Cenarth occupies a picturesque spot by an old stone bridge over the River
Teifi, at the foot of a stretch of rapids. It's home to the
National Coracle Centre

, which comprises a 17th-
century flour mill and a collection of coracles (small boats made of hide and wicker) from
all over the world, along with exhibits and demonstrations showing how these fragile craft
were made and used. If you're wondering what one looks like but don't fancy paying the
admission, there's one attached to the wall of the 16th-century White Hart Tavern across
the road.
Near the south side of the bridge is
Ffynnon Llawddog
, a holy well linked to an early Celt-
ic saint. It's one of many such sites throughout Wales that were popular during medieval
times for their supposedly curative powers, although many have ancient pre-Christian ori-
gins.
