This drive takes you onto the Gower's back roads,which are crowded in holiday season but otherwise have an en-
joyably remote feel. The itinerary explores the area's ancient past, taking in a Neolithic tomb and cairn, and
brings you to two sweeping sandy beaches and a Tudor castle, winding up in picture-perfect Mumbles.
Take the A4118 west from Swansea and turn right onto the B4271, the secondary road running through the
centre of the Gower Peninsula. Turn left on the back road signposted to Reynoldston, stopping above the village
