In-Depth Information
Mandinam
( 01550-777368; www.mandinam.com ; Llangadog; van or hut per night £70 ) This wonderfully remote es-
tate just west of the national park - the nearest village is Llangadog - offers a great
glamping (glamour camping) experience in a Romany van or a shepherd's hut, complete
with ecofriendly hot tubs for a spot of romantic stargazing. Both the van and hut are dec-
orated in tasteful bohemian style, and feature tiny kitchens.

Carreg Cennen Tearoom
( 01558-822291; www.carregcennencastle.com ; Carreg Cennen Castle; cawl £3.95; 9.30am-6.30pm Apr-Oct, to
4pm Nov-Mar) Possibly the best castle tearoom anywhere - Carreg Cennen is, unusually, in
private hands due to a legal anomaly, which perhaps accounts for the pride with which the
tearoom is run. The farmer/owner's longhorn beef is on the menu in the form of cottage
pie and beef salad, plus it serves warming cawl (traditional Welsh dish) and excellent
homemade cakes. The location is an impressive barn, which sits below the castle.
