The lake is the national park's main water sports location, used for sailing, windsurfing,
north shore, rents rowing boats (per hour/day £14/32), Canadian canoes (per hour/day
£14/45) and Wayfarer sailing dinghies (per hour £28; you'll need to know how to rig them
yourself).
Set on a hillside above the eastern end of Llangorse Lake is the

a range of adventure activities, including an outdoor aerial assault course that involves
clambering up cargo nets, balancing along logs, swinging on tyres and using Indian rope
bridges. You can whizz through the air on linked zipwires which stretch for 3km (£25/45
half-/full day). There's also an indoor facility with artificial rock-climbing walls, a log
climb, an abseil area, a rope bridge and even an artificial caving area.

An elegant
Georgian manor house overlooking the River Usk, Peterstone enjoys views across the val-
ley to the peaks of Cribyn and Pen-y-Fan. Despite the country-house setting the atmo-
sphere is relaxed. The bedrooms are large, mixing antiques with modern designer fur-
niture and crisp linen. Llanhamlach is 3 miles southeast of Brecon, just off the A40.

A traditional
village inn that offers a candle-lit dining room with a beautiful garden terrace. The White
Swan is a great place to relax after a walk along the canal or a hike in the Brecon
Beacons. It changed hands recently, but the menu still emphasises Welsh lamb, beef and
venison, with daily fish and vegetarian specials. Llanfrynach is 3.5 miles southeast of Bre-
con off the B4558.
