In-Depth Information
Outside of the rugby season the stadium is used for mammoth events such as Monster
Trucks and concerts by the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Madonna. The British Speed-
way Grand Prix is held here every June.
If you can't get tickets to an event, it's well worth taking a tour - you get to hang out in
the dressing rooms (alas sans players), run through the tunnel to the recorded cheering of
a game-day crowd and sit in the VIP box. Tours last about an hour and are held several
times a day, except for event days. Book online or at the WRU Store OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP

( www.cardiffstory.com ; Old Library, The Hayes; 10am-5pm Mon-Sat, 11am-4pm Sun) This excellent little
museum uses interactive displays, video footage and everyday objects to tell the story of
Cardiff's transformation from a small market town into the world's biggest coal port and
then into the capital city of today. While you're here, check out the original entrance to
the Old Library, lined with beautiful Victorian tiles, and head upstairs for temporary art
exhibitions.
St John the Baptist Church
OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP
(Working St; 10am-3pm Mon-Sat) A graceful Gothic tower rises from this 15th-century church,
its delicate stonework looking almost like filigree. Along with the castle keep, this is one
of the few remnants of medieval Cardiff. A church has stood on this site since at least
1180. Inside there are regimental flags, elegant pointed arches and a spectacular
Elizabethan-era tomb. Free half-hour organ concerts are held here at 1.15pm on the
second Friday of each month.
