INFORMATION
NBC, on the street behind the market, changes cash, and both NBC and CRDB (at the be-
ginning of the Njombe road) have ATMs (Visa and MasterCard). There's an internet con-
nection at
Amani Internet Café
(per hr Tsh1000; 8.30am-6pm Mon-Sat) , on a side
street directly opposite the main market entrance. The immigration office (where you'll
need to get your passport stamped if you are travelling to or from Mozambique) is at the
beginning of the Tunduru Rd.
GETTING THERE & AWAY
To Dar es Salaam, Super Feo and other buses depart daily from 5am (Tsh38,000 to
Tsh40,000, 12 to 13 hours). Going as far as Iringa costs Tsh17,000.
To Mbeya, Super Feo departs daily at 6am in each direction (Tsh18,000, eight hours) via
Njombe (Tsh8000, four hours). There are also departures to Njombe at 9.30am and 3pm.
For Mbamba Bay, there's one direct vehicle departing daily by 7am (Tsh9000, six to eight
hours). Otherwise, you'll need to get transport to Mbinga (Tsh4500, four hours) and from
there on to Mbamba Bay (Tsh5000). During the wet season, when the trip often needs to be
done with 4WDs, prices rise.
To Tunduru, there's a daily bus departing by about 7am (Tsh15,000, seven to eight hours).
There's also one bus daily direct to Masasi (Tsh25,000, 13 hours), departing by 6am.
Transport to Mozambique departs from the Majengo C area, southwest of the bus stand and
about 600m in from the main road; ask locals to point out the way through the back streets.
