As there is no tourism infrastructure, anything you undertake will need to be under your
own steam. At the northern edge of town, visible from the main road and an easy walk, are
the Luhuji Falls . It's possible to go from Njombe along scenic highland backroads to the

Lutheran Centre Guest House & Annex HOSTEL $

Tsh12,000-15,000, new r Tsh30,000; ) The drafty, multistorey Lutheran Centre Annex,
next to the Lutheran church, has spartan albeit spacious rooms. Diagonally behind (south),
and one block off the main street, is the Lutheran Centre, with spacious new rooms and
some older, smaller, faded rooms plus a small dorm. Turn off the main road just south of
the Lutheran Centre Annex. In both annexe and main guesthouse, all 'singles' have one
double bed, and 'doubles' have one double and one twin bed. All have hot water (buckets
or running), and meals on order.
Chani Motel HOTEL $
( 026-278 2357; r Tsh15,000-20,000; ) This cosy place has modest twin- and double-
bedded rooms, hot water (usually), small poinsettia-studded gardens, and a restaurant with
TV and filling meals. It's signposted at the northern end of town and is 600m west of the
main road.
Mexons Cliff Hotel HOTEL $

) Mexons has a prime setting on the escarpment, although most of the rooms are small and
somewhat cramped, with windows looking out on the back parking lot. There's a restaur-
ant. It's at the northern end of town and signposted just off the main road.
Mwambasa Lodge GUESTHOUSE $
( 026-278 2301; Main Rd; s/d Tsh15,000-20,000) Clean rooms with hot water and bath-
room, TV, small double beds and continental breakfast. It's centrally located, about 500m
north of the bus stand and on the opposite side of the street.
