GETTING THERE & AWAY
As all locals will tell you, Sumry is the best bus company and you should use it if possible.
Of course, since everyone knows this, it's best to book ahead. Ticket offices are located
just outside the bus stand. Sumry has three morning buses daily to Mbeya (Tsh15,000 to
Tsh17,000, seven hours) via Tunduma. To Mpanda (Tsh14,000, five to six hours), Sumry
departs daily at 8am and 2pm.
Most trucks, both large lorries and small 4WDs, depart from various points (just go and ask
around) behind the three OilCom petrol stations on the main road. You can also private-hire
4WDs here. One exception is that trucks to Kasesha, on the Zambian border, park in front
of Datoo Guesthouse; Click here for details about crossing to Zambia there.
