In-Depth Information
Mpanda comes recommended by some researchers living in the area. Katavi
National Park is the core of Marula's business plan (though it can get you to
Mahale Mountains National Park too) and it likes to add village visits and other
cultural tourism activities in the Kibaoni area south of the park to the standard
wildlife drives.
SLEEPING
Besides bush camping (see above), there are two public campsites (adult/child 5-15yr
US$30/5) ; one at Ikuu near Katisunga Plain and the other 2km south of Sitalike. Both get
a lot of wildlife walking through. Bring all food and drink with you.
IN THE PARK
All park lodges are located around the Katisunga Plain in the vicinity of the Ikuu Airstrip
except for Palahala, which is out by itself to the north. All prices include fullboard and (ex-
cept for Flycatcher) wildlife drives.
