Self-Catering
Shoprite (Dodoma Rd; 8am-7pm Mon-Sat, 8am-4pm Sun) On the edge of the city
centre, this is the largest grocery in Arusha.
Meat King (Goliondoi Rd) The best meat in town, plus cheeses and frozen pastas and
spring rolls.
Biashara (Clock Tower roundabout; 8.30am-9.30pm Mon-Sat, 10am-2.30pm Sun) Aka
the Clock Tower Supermarket, this small place has a big wine selection.
Kijenge (Simeon Rd; 8am-8pm Mon-Sat, 9am-4pm Sun) Small but best of the lot in
the area around the hotels in eastern Arusha.
DRINKING & ENTERTAINMENT
Via Via CAFE
(Boma Rd) This cafe (see Click here ) is a good spot for a drink and one of the best
places to find out about upcoming cultural events, many of which are held here. Thursday
nights there's karaoke and a live band. Things get started at 9pm and admission is a steep
Tsh7000.
Greek Club BAR
(Nyerere Rd; Tue, Wed & Fri 4.30pm-late, Sat & Sun 3pm-late; ) This sports bar is
a popular expat hang-out, especially on weekends.
Masai Camp CLUB
(Old Moshi Rd; admission Tsh5000; 9pm-dawn Fri & Sat) Arusha's loudest and
brashest club is an institution on the Arusha party scene. The music is a mix of African and
Western.
Luxe CLUB
(Old Moshi Rd; admission Tsh5000;
9pm-dawn Fri & Sat) A classier version of Masai
Camp, but far from tame.
