VOLUNTEERING IN MOSHI
If you're looking to do more in Moshi than just climb Kili, consider volunteer-
ing. Moshi is the easiest place in Tanzania to lend a hand since many groups
looking for help post flyers on notice boards around town. For those who'd
prefer to have someone help them find a placement, Honey Badger ( Click here ) ,
Hostel Hoff ( 0787-225 908; www.hostelhoff.com ; dm US$18) and the less
cosy Foot2Afrika (Hostel Foot Prince; 0784-828835;
www.foot2afrika.com ; dm US$20) will set you up with a project that fits your
skills and desires as long as you sleep at their hostels. All are for-profit enter-
prises, but they're locally based and while not cheap, they're much less expens-
ive than the big international volunteering companies. They require a minimum
stay of two weeks, one month and three weeks respectively and the prices for
Hoff and Foot include breakfast and dinner (Hoff also does your laundry) while
Honey Badger is more flexible about arrangements and has several options.
Longer stays mean lower prices.
Ujamaa Hostel ( Click here ) is a similar set-up in Arusha.
