charm, but there is a tiny bit of character. Rooms have fans (air-con for an extra US$10),
cable TV and large beds backing a small garden. There are great Kili views from the
rooftop, but they've shut the bar that used to be there.
Parkview Inn HOTEL $$

No one would ever call this centrally located place attractive, but the modern rooms and
swimming pool make it a good post-climb rest spot at the midrange level.
Big Mountain Inn GUESTHOUSE $

neighbourhood far from tourists and touts. It has ordinary, but good-value rooms with cable
TV and hot water.
Lutheran Umoja Hostel GUESTHOUSE $

without bathroom Tsh10,000/15,000/25,000; ) The cheapest place in the city centre
has clean, no-frills rooms around a small (mostly) quiet courtyard.
Outside the City Centre
Honey Badger GUESTHOUSE $

camping in an enclosed lawn and a variety of expensive rooms. Campers and dorm dwell-
ers must pay US$3 to use the large pool. It offers a variety of tours and lessons (drum-
ming, cooking etc) and volunteer opportunities can be arranged. It's 7km from town off the
Marangu road.
Lutheran Uhuru Hotel LODGE $$

rooms have fans and TVs, the new rooms have air-con and they say TVs will be installed)
