Tanzania Transport Tips
Distances in Tanzania are long, and you're likely to spend a considerable por-
tion of your stay travelling. To maximise comfort and safety:
»Don't try to fit in too many destinations; rather, focus on exploring one area in
depth.
»Travel early in the day. Never travel at night.
»Get a seat on the shadier side of the bus.
»Keep your luggage with you in the main part of the bus.
»Buy your ticket the day before to minimise bus station chaos and dealings with
touts on the morning of travel; only buy your ticket from a proper office and not
from a tout.
»Be prepared for hair-raising speeds.
