Livingstone Beach Resort HOTEL $$

) This pleasant place, under new management, has whitewashed stone and mak-
uti (thatched roof) bungalows (some with a double bed, others with a double and a single)
scattered around expansive palm-tree-studded grounds. The pool costs Tsh4000/3000 per
adult/child for nonguests. In front is a tiny, mangrove-fringed beach. Kayaking, snorkelling
and day boat trips to Saadani National Park can be arranged, and the restaurant-bar serves
good Italian meals, coffees and cappuccinos. A spa is planned.
Lazy Lagoon LODGE $$$

350; ) This relaxing, upmarket lodge, on a peninsula 10km south of Bagamoyo,
has spacious cottages with lofts. Dhow trips and excursions to Bagamoyo can be arranged.
Follow signs from the main highway to the Mbegani Fisheries compound, where you can
leave your vehicle and continue via a short boat ride to the lodge.
Twins Lodge Park HOTEL $
( 0772-670801, 0754-313445; s/d Tsh50,000/60,000; ) Simple, clean twins and
doubles, some with nets, some without, and some upstairs with a small balcony. It's inland,
a 10-minute walk from the bus stand, and just southwest of Travellers Lodge. There's a
restaurant.
Millennium Old Posta Hotel HOTEL $$
( 023-244 0201; s/d US$100/120; ) This high-rise eyesore directly in front of the port
and customs house has reasonable rooms and a restaurant. Down the road on the beach is
the affiliated and similarly priced Millennium Seaview Hotel.
Mary Nice Place GUESTHOUSE $
( 0754-024015; maryniceplace@yahoo.co.uk; r Tsh25,000-35,000; ) A converted
house with a small garden, no-frills rooms with fan and meals with advance order. It's sign-
posted, just in from the road to the left shortly after passing the College of Arts.
Francesco's Hostel & Camping GUESTHOUSE $
( 022-550 5788; camping Tsh5000, r Tsh25,000; ) Just 100m further up the road from
Mary Nice Place, Francesco's was undergoing renovations when we stopped by. It's sched-
uled to reopen soon with simple rooms and meals.
