SIGHTS & ACTIVITIES
Kunduchi Ruins RUINS
Just north of Kunduchi Wet 'n' Wild are these overgrown ruins, which include the remnants
of a late-15th-century mosque as well as Arabic graves from the 18th or 19th centuries,
with some well-preserved pillar tombs. Fragments of Chinese pottery found here testify to
ancient trading links between this part of Africa and the Orient. Arrange a guide with your
hotel - it's not safe to walk on your own to the ruins, as there have been muggings.
Diving & Snorkelling DIVING
( 0754-783241; www.seabreezemarine.org ) Diving around the coral gardens near Bon-
goyo and Mbudya islands, and diving certification courses (PADI), can be arranged year-
round at the long-standing Sea Breeze Marine next to White Sands Hotel.
Kunduchi Wet 'n' Wild WATERPARK

5000; 9am-6pm) This large complex next to Kunduchi Beach Hotel & Resort has sev-
eral pools, water slides, video arcades, a small playground, an adjoining go-kart track and
a restaurant. Although it opens at 9am, the slides and pools usually don't get going until

Water World WATERPARK

women only Wed) Similar to Kunduchi Wet 'n' Wild, but somewhat smaller and quieter.
It's run by White Sands Hotel, and is next door just to the north, between the White Sands
and Beachcomber hotels.
SLEEPING & EATING
At all the hotels, it's worth asking about weekend discounts on accommodation. All hotels
also charge an entry fee for day visitors on weekends and holidays, averaging Tsh3000 to
Tsh5000 per person.
