Officials in Namibia aren't as sensitive about photography as in some other African
countries, but it still isn't a good idea to photograph borders, airports, communications
equipment or military installations without first asking permission from any uniformed
personnel that might be present.
If you're still shooting print and slide film, it's best to bring extra rolls from home.
Memory cards for digital cameras are widely available in Windhoek and Swakopmund,
and most internet cafes can burn your photos onto CD. Prices are generally very cheap for
these services, and shouldn't cost more than a few US dollars.

Post
Domestic post generally moves slowly; it can take weeks for a letter to travel from Lüder-
itz to Katima Mulilo, for example. Overseas airmail post is normally more efficient.
Public Holidays
Banks, government offices and most shops are closed on public holidays; when a public
holiday falls on a Sunday, the following day also becomes a holiday.
