In-Depth Information
( 402407; Tobias Hainyeko St; mains N$100-120)
A Swakopmund institution, Kücki's
has been in the bar and restaurant biz for a couple of decades. The menu is full of seafood
and meat dishes alongside comfort food, and everything is masterfully prepared. The
warm and congenial atmosphere is a welcome complement to the food.
Tug $$$
( 402356; mains US$80-140; lunch Sat-Sun, dinner daily)
Housed in the beached
tugboat
Danie Hugo
near the jetty, the Tug is something of an obligatory destination for
any dinner-goer in Swakopmund. Regarded by many as the best restaurant in town, the
Tug is an atmospheric, upmarket choice for meat and seafood, though a sundowner cock-
tail will do just fine. Due its extreme popularity and small size, advance bookings are re-
commended.
SEAFOOD
Lighthouse Pub & Cafe $$
( 400894; The Mole, Main Beach; mains US$80-120)
With a postcard-perfect view of
the beach and crashing surf, the Lighthouse Pub & Cafe is an atmospheric choice for lov-
ers of fine seafood. Depending on what the fishing boats are catching in their nets, lines
and pots, you'll find everything from kingklip and lobster to kabeljou and calamari. It also
does some delicious pizza meals (half-price on Monday).
PUB
Fish Deli $$
(Sam Nujoma St; N$70-90; 8.30am-5pm Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri, 8.30am-2pm Wed,
9am-1pm Sat)
Recommended by locals as the best place for a seafood meal in town. It's a
simple but clean set-up inside and importantly the fish comes straight from the water to
your plate - no frozen stuff.
SEAFOOD
Hansa Hotel Restaurant international $$$
( 400311;
www.hansahotel.com.na
;
3 Hendrick Witbooi St; mains N$120-240)
It's
hard to top history, and the Hansa Hotel is steeped in it. In the main dining hall at this
classic colonial spot, you can indulge in culinary excesses and wash them down with a
bottle from the extensive wine list.
