Ugab River Guided Hiking Route
The 50km-long route is open to groups of between six and eight people on the second and
fourth Thursday of each month from April to October. Hikes start at 9am from Ugabmund
and finish on Saturday afternoon. Most hikers stay Wednesday night at the Mile 108
Camp Site , 40km south of Ugabmund, which allows you to arrive at Ugabmund in time
for the hike. The hike must be booked through NWR; hikers must provide and carry their
own food and camping equipment. The route begins by crossing the coastal plain, then
climbs into the hills and follows a double loop through lichen fields and past caves, natur-
al springs and unusual geological formations.

to the Curoca River in Angola. Petrol, water, firewood and basic supplies are available,
and campers may use the restaurant at Terrace Bay Resort. Torra Bay is located 215km
north of Cape Cross.
