In-Depth Information
(s/d with half board from N$1250/2300; ) Recently opened in a previously restric-
ted area of the park in western Etosha, Dolomite Camp is beautifully carved into its rocky
surrounds. Accommodation is in thatched chalets (actually luxury tents) including a
couple with their own plunge pool. The views of surrounding plains are wonderful and
there's even a waterhole at the camp so spotting the wildlife doesn't mean moving far
from your bed. When you do get out and about, the wildlife viewing around here is superb
as the area has been free from human activity for half a century.
OUTSIDE THE PARK
There plenty of top-end lodges located on the periphery of Etosha. At all of these proper-
ties, prebooking is essential to ensure a room, and access is via private vehicle or charter
flight. All published rates are for the high season and include full board and wildlife
drives; transfers from Windhoek are also possible with advance notice.

s/d chalets N$500/900) This guest farm has some great options and is 3km north of the
C38/B1 junction (off the B1). You can camp on grass under shady trees with braai , run-
ning water and communal or private facilities. Large-roomed stone chalets are simply but
beautifully decorated. The linen is particularly good. The location gives this place a rather
remote, harsh feel which is softened by the grassed areas and plenty of shady trees. It's a
very affordable spot close to Etosha - the best camping in the area. Meals available
(breakfast/lunch N$80/160).
