; Anderson St; s/d from N$390/600; )

cosy little guesthouse is located in a quiet and garden-like suburban setting and centred on
a refreshing swimming pool surrounded by all manner of potted plants. Well-priced rooms
pay tribute to the wilds of Namibia with ample animal prints.
GUESTHOUSE
Okahandja Country Hotel $$
( 504 299;
www.okahandjahotel.com
;
campsite N$125, d N$880)
This big old stalwart
is a great bastion of hospitality. The stone buildings with sweeping thatched roofs stay
cool in summer and have plenty of room. The rooms are old-fashioned and a little frumpy
but very comfortable. A little green oasis in an otherwise dusty setting, it's 2km north of
town, opposite the D2110 turn-off.
HOTEL
Von Bach Dam Resort
( 500162; campsite per person N$100, s/d chalets from N$580/900; )
Located just
south of Okahandja on the B1 and also known as Tungeni, this place was transformed sev-
eral years ago from a relatively low-key resort into a much larger (and busier) enterprise.
It has dozens of chalets, as well as campsites with their own
braais
(barbecues). There's
also a swimming pool and spa, and cruises can be organised. A fee of N$10 per car plus
N$10 per person must be paid to enter the park surrounding the dam.

(Martin Neib St; meals & snacks N$25-50; 6.30am-3.30pm Mon-Fri, to noon Sat)
This
German cafe and bakery serves, along with hot and cold drinks, tasty breakfasts and
lunches including toasties, bread rolls, sandwiches, salads, freshly made pies, a cold plat-
ter and game steaks.
