Off-Road Driving
There's plenty to challenge 4WD enthusiasts who like to get off-road. In many remote
places age-old tracks (in perilous condition after the rains) are the only way to navigate
through the African wilderness.
Central Kalahari Game Reserve An off-roader's dream; if you're after solitude, deserts-
capes and the echo of lions roaring in the night, this enormous heart of the African wilder-
ness could become your favourite ( Click here )
The Kaokoveld One of the last true wildernesses in Southern Africa, the remote and be-
guiling Kaokoveld is crisscrossed by sandy tracks laid down decades ago - this is a seri-
ous off-road challenge ( Click here )
Khaudum National Park With virtually no signage, and navigation dependent on GPS
coordinates and topographic maps, Khaudum is a wildlife and off-road adventure ( Click

Makgadikgadi Pans If the notion of exploring 12,000 sq km of disorientating salt pans is
your idea of an adventure, then calibrate your GPS and head straight here ( Click here )
Architecture
An ensemble of European architecture, particularly the remarkably rich collection of Ger-
man art nouveau buildings found in Namibia, is often a shock to first-time visitors. In Bot-
swana visitors may stumble across a colonial vestige harking back to the early 1900s.
Lüderitz There is an absurdity to this town littered with German colonial relics wedged
between the desert and the rollers of the south Atlantic - it's just ludicrous...( Click here )
Swakopmund This is where Namibia's German heritage shines, with its seaside promen-
ades, half-timbered homes and colonial-era buildings ( Click here )
Windhoek There are a few streets in the capital where colonial styling still radiates. Neo-
baroque cathedral spires, as well as a few seemingly misplaced German castles, punctuate
the skyline ( Click here )
