Accommodation
The story of Botswana's accommodation is one of extremes. At one end, there are fab-
ulously sited campsites for self-drivers (the closest the country comes to budget accom-
modation). At the other extreme, there are top-end lodges where prices can be eye-water-
ingly high. In between, you will find some midrange options in the major towns and places
such as the Okavango Panhandle, but elsewhere there's very little for the midrange (and
nothing for the noncamping budget) traveller.
PRICES
The order of accommodation listings is by author preference, and each place to stay is ac-
companied by one of the following symbols (the price relates to a high-season double room
with private bathroom and, unless stated otherwise, includes breakfast). Upmarket places
tend to price in US dollars as opposed to pula.
$ <US$50
$$ US$50-100
$$$ >US$100
BED LEVY & GOVERNMENT TAX
Please note that all hotels, lodges, campsites and other forms of accommodation are re-
quired by the government to charge a P10 bed levy per person per night. This levy is rarely
if ever included in quoted accommodation rates.
