Kgalagadi is home to large herds of springboks, gemsboks, eland and wildebeest, as
well as a full complement of predators, including lions (one estimate puts the lion popula-
tion of the park at around 450), cheetahs, leopards, wild dogs, jackals and hyenas. Over
250 bird species are present, including several endemic species of larks and bustards.
Camping in the park is only allowed at designated campsites and must be booked at the
DWNP office in Gaborone or Maun. You will not be permitted into the Botswana side of
the park without a campsite reservation.
