In-Depth Information
Kang
POP 6560
The small settlement of Kang, 277km southeast of Ghanzi, sits at the turn-off to the
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. As such, it's an important crossroads town for those travel-
ling between Namibia, South Africa and Botswana (at some places in town you can pay in
the currencies of any of the three countries). Kang wouldn't win a beauty contest but it
has a reliable petrol station as well as affordable places to eat and sleep.

MOTEL
Kang Ultra Stop $$
( 651 7294; www.kangultrastop.com ; campsite per person from P40, r P390-560; )
At the main petrol station in town, Kang Ultra Stop aims to meet all of your needs in one.
The motel-style rooms are simple but reasonably priced and well maintained, the restaur-
ant (mains from P40) serves uninspiring but filling meals such as chicken schnitzel or
pizza, and the petrol station has a general store and curio shop. There's also a bar that can
get rowdy in the evenings.
Kang Echo Lodge $$
( 651 7094; www.echolodge.co.bw ; r from P525) Similar in style to Kang Ultra Stop,
Kang Echo Lodge has comfortable if uninspiring motel-style rooms that are set back a
little from the highway. The Ultra Stop's facilities, including restaurant, are a short walk
away.
MOTEL
Nkisi Guesthouse $$
( 651 7374; www.nkisiguesthouse.com ; d/f from P520/650; ) The third of three
places to stay clustered around the petrol station, Nkisi has a touch more style, with rooms
sporting earthy colour schemes; some rooms are also suitable for families, with bunks in
addition to double beds.
GUESTHOUSE
Kang Lodge $$
( 651 8050; www.kanglodge.com ; s/d/ste P330/ 510/550; ) Just out of town along
the road to Gaborone, Kang Lodge is similar to other places in town, although lone travel-
lers get a better deal here. There's an OK restaurant (mains from P40) attached.
