Kuru Art Project
( 659 6102; 8am-12.30pm & 2-5pm Mon-Fri) This fabulous art project provides
opportunities for local artists to create and sell paintings and other artwork; it's worth
spending an hour or two leafing through the various folios of artworks. It's well signpos-
ted along D'kar's only road, close to the turn-off to the Ghanzi-Maun highway.
CULTURAL CENTRE
Museum
( 8am-12.30pm & 2-5pm Mon-Fri) When we last visited, there were plans for this
dusty little museum to be overhauled; in the meantime, it's a modest affair with a few ex-
hibits on San culture. It's almost next door to the Kuru Art Project.

Dqãe Qare Game Farm $$
( 7252 7321; www.dqae.org ; campsite per person P60, San huts per person with/
without half board P418/260, lodge rooms per person with/without half board P499/328)
Dqãe Qare Game Farm is a 7500-hectare private reserve where visitors can participate in
traditional activities organised by the local San community. There are guided bushwalks
and plenty of opportunities to gain insights into traditional hunting and gathering tech-
niques. Money spent at the farm is invested in the community. Although it's possible to
drop by for an hour or two, spending a night either camping or in one of the San huts is a
great opportunity to meet locals in a relaxed setting. The ranch is 15km southeast of D'kar
and only accessible by 4WD. If you don't have a 4WD, contact the farm to arrange trans-
port from D'kar/Ghanzi. These transfers cost P140/245 per four-passenger vehicle to the
farm.
