places an emphasis on walking and mokoro safaris across the delta flood plains. It's the
sort of thing that rewards fit travellers, but with that said, the rest camps are still impress-
ively posh - the theme is old Africa exploration, but we doubt Livingstone ever laid his
bushy beard on the soft sheets K&D provides.

urious twin camp is on the Duba Plains at the transition zone between the savannahs and
swamps north of the delta. As such, the wildlife viewing here is superlative, and the area
is famous for attracting large buffalo herds. Accommodation is in either the six-tent Vum-
bura camp or the slightly smaller five-tent Little Vumbura, which occupies a nearby is-
land.

DELTA LODGES
The lodges of the Eastern Delta, Inner Delta and Moremi Game Reserve rank among the most exclusive and in-
dulgent safari experiences in Africa.
Rates for staying in most lodges include accommodation or camping equipment, all meals and several activities
or excursions, such as mokoro trips, nature walks and wildlife drives. The more-expensive places also include
drinks (beer and wine only), and entry fees to Moremi Game Reserve. All rooms, chalets and tents have private
bathrooms (unless stated otherwise).
Transfers (if required) by road, or more usually by air, from Maun are never included in normal daily rates,
though they may be included in package deals. Most lodges and booking agencies deal exclusively with a particu-
lar Maun-based air-charter company, so your chances of finding other charter companies offering discounted fares
to a certain lodge are negligible.
Most lodges have radically different rates for 'high season' (about July to October) and 'low season' (about
November to June). Some places offer unadvertised discounted rates for 'shoulder seasons' (early March to mid-
June and mid-October to late November), but you'll have to ask. The rates listed are always per person sharing a
twin or double room. Single supplements are usually charged. Rates listed include all government taxes and ser-
vice charges. Tips are always extra.
