In-Depth Information
drives typically cost around P200, though you will also have to pay separate park fees. As
always, shop around, compare prices and choose a trip that suits your needs.
Sleeping
If you're planning on independently venturing deeper into the national park, the first thing
you must do is book your campsites prior to arrival in Chobe. If you don't have a reserva-
tion, SKL (which runs three campsites in the park) has an office right outside the Chobe
Riverfront park entrance. Be warned, however, that in peak periods the campsites are
booked out months in advance.
Ihaha Campsite $
(kwalatesafari@gmail.com; GPS: S 17°50.487', E 24°52.754'; campsite per adult/child
P260/130) Ihaha is the only campsite for self-drivers along the Chobe Riverfront - staying
here gives you the run of the park without having to negotiate the decongestion strategy.
The trees need more time to mature and shade can be in short supply at some of the sites.
But the location is excellent - it's by the water's edge about 27km from the Northern
Gate. There's an ablutions block and braai areas.
