12.8 Construction stages - sequence of work glulam
frame to main store
The laminated timber frame has been designed and erected by a specialist firm as a
work package. The 300 x 450 mm columns are arranged on a 6 m and 18 m grid
layout. A mezzanine floor is incorporated in the store supported on a steel frame to
form a first floor sales area. The ground floor and mezzanine floor are finished with
an insitu concrete slab. Externally the frame is clad in large SIP panels two storeys in
height. Further large glazed wall panels complete the building enclosure.
