10.7 Construction stages of the building frame
The construction stages of work on the building frame consist of:
Basement construction.
Staircase cores.
Steelwork and floors.
Building enclosure - double skin façade.
A brief description of each of the above stages is outlined, supplemented by site
images.
The basement construction
The basement is surrounded with a concrete bored pile wall containing some 2000
piles. The two storey deep basement contains insitu concrete columns supporting
flat slab insitu floors up to the ground floor level.
A centrally located schwing concrete mast pump was used for all the concreting
operations. The logistics in relation to the pump location and concrete deliveries is
outlined in the management section.
