Appendix 1.
Conversion Factors
Conversion factors are used to change measurements or calculated values from one
unit of measurement to another. In making the conversion from one unit to another,
you must know two things:
1. The exact number that relates the two units
2. Whether to multiply or divide by that number
Most environmental professionals memorize some heat content conversion because
of actually using the conversions, not because of attempting to memorize them (see
Table A1.1).
