Figure 2.10 Warning statement on each pesticide label. Misuse is a violation
of FIFRA.
18. Reentry Statement
The label will specify the restricted entry interval (REI) for the product.
The restricted entry statement includes the amount of time that must elapse
after a pesticide has been applied and before it is safe to enter the treated area
without wearing full protective clothing and equipment. If this interval
applies to only certain uses or sites, the label will say so. The label may also
list posting requirements associated with the reentry interval. Refer back to
Section II, part G, for information on restricted entry intervals (REIs) in
connection with the Worker Protection Act.
Sometimes the use of one pesticide soon after the use of another can
cause phytotoxicity. The label of at least one of the products will warn of the
potential problem. Likewise, in addition to providing instructions on mixing
pesticides, the label will tell which mixtures to avoid (usually because of
physical or chemical incompatibility).
