Loose-fitting respirators are much more expensive than face-sealing respi-
rators. In some situations, however, they are the only safe option. For exam-
ple, you might have to use one if you have facial hair that prevents an ade-
quate seal with the respirator facepiece.

In many situations, loose-fitting respirators are a good choice. For exam-
ple, you might choose to use one:
to avoid the need for fit tests and fit checks
if you will be exposed to pesticides for several hours at a time
if you are working in situations where heat stress is a concern.
Table 6.11 lists the acceptable PPE that should be used for each labeling
statement on the pesticide container.
