In-Depth Information
June
Usually a good month to travel, with reliable weather, some interesting events and rel-
atively few grockles and emmets (local terms for tourists in Devon and Cornwall).
Royal Cornwall Show
Cornwall's biggest agricultural show happens in early June on a purpose-built showground
just outside Wadebridge. Expect food stalls, cooking displays and cultural events alongside
parades of prize-winning livestock.
Golowan Festival
Penzance's premier summer party and arts festival runs over several days in mid-June to
celebrate the Festival of St John. Music, parades, plays, parties - and an almighty knees-up
on Mazey Day.
Rock Oyster Festival
Staged in the grounds of Dinham House between Rock and Wadebridge, this outdoor fest-
ival has mushroomed into one of Cornwall's big summer events. The focus is on food, but
there's live music and activities for kids, too.
Maker Festival
A small-scale music festival staged on the lovely Rame Peninsula, with views of the sea
along with the bands. Mid-June.
Falmouth Sea Shanty Festival
Hooray, and up she rises... The sound of sea shanties fills the air in Falmouth in this mid-
June singing celebration, but you'll have to bring your own bottles of rum and pieces of
eight.
