Treago Farm
( 01637-830277; www.treagofarm.co.uk ; Porth Joke; adult £7.25-9.50, child £3.50-4.50) Few campsites have
such a swish setting as this, in the crook of the valley just behind Porth Joke. There are 81
grassy pitches, but it gets crowded in summer, so it might be better saved for the off-sea-
son. A sandy 500m trail leads straight to the beach. Porth (Polly) Joke is about 5 miles
east from Newquay, sandwiched between Crantock and Holywell Bay. It's hard to find, so
call ahead for directions.

Ocean Lodge
( 01637-877701; www.oceanlodgenewquay.co.uk ; Holywell Rd; dm £20-35; ) The boxy building
looks bland, but this is one of the better surf hostels, squeaky clean and with small ensuite
dorms. There's a zingy downstairs bar and lounge, decorated with VW camper prints.
HOSTEL £
Glendorgal Hotel
( 01637-874937; www.glendorgalhotel.co.uk ; Lusty Glaze Rd, Porth Beach; d £102-192; ) A decent
hotel in a clifftop spot above Porth Beach. There are only 26 rooms, so it feels intimate.
