In-Depth Information
( 01726-842295; www.treveaguefarm.co.uk ; standard pitch £7-20, £2 extra with electric hookup; Apr-Oct)
This large, popular, well-equipped campsite is just inland from Vault Beach, about a mile
south of Gorran Churchtown. There's lots of space for caravans and tents, but it gets
packed in summer even so.
The Meadows
( 01726-844383; www.themeadowspentewanvalley.co.uk ; sites £10-15; Easter-Oct) New owners have
brought a fresh lease of life to this peaceful valley campsite, about halfway between St
Austell and Mevagissey. A tinkling stream runs along one side, and the sites are well-
spaced and shady. Breakfast baguettes, cakes, camping supplies and fresh eggs are sold in
the shop, plus firepits to hire.

Boslinney Barn
( 01726-843731; www.boslinney-barn.co.uk ; Galowras, nr Mevagissey; d £80) A renovated barn between
Meva and Gorran, with three stylish rooms tricked out with shiny wood, colourful rugs
and reclaimed timber. Little artworks and rough-sawn doors add to the character.
Trevalsa Court
( 01726-842468; www.trevalsa-hotel.co.uk ; d £110-235; ) Mevagissey's hillside hotel is the top
place to stay in town. Mahogany panels contrast with starchy tablecloths in the dining
room, and the menu is good for fresh fish and local game. Rooms feel quaint, in creams,
stripes and pastels; some are small, so aim for a Superior Sea View Double at least.

Fountain Inn
( 01726-842320; St George's Sq, Mevagissey; pub meals £8-12) The oldest pub in Mevagissey has two
bars in original oak and slate, plus a smugglers' tunnel to the harbour. For sustenance,
there are St Austell ales and a menu of beer-battered cod and curries.
Barley Sheaf
( 01726-843330; www.barley-sheaf.co.uk ; Gorran Churchtown; mains £8-14) Gorran Haven's village pub,
the Llawnroc, has been turned into a rather soulless hotel, so this quaint country pub in
nearby Gorran Churchtown is a much better bet. It's been here since 1837, and feels reas-
suringly lived-in: expect good grub and a mix of locals and visitors.
