of Nelson, at this former sea-captain's house all the rooms are named after famous battle-

front garden is a delight.

superb: sitting right on Lynmouth's pocket-sized harbour, russet hills slope up on three
sides. Contemporary rooms sport leather headboards, lilac scatter-cushions and mini-arm-
chairs. All have extraordinary views; but the best is from number four, where the window
is right next to the beach.

plethora of exotic artefacts, eccentric doesn't even begin to describe this swish, objet
d'art-packed enclave. It's run by Martin Miller, of the Miller's Antiques books, which ex-
plains the delightfully over-the-top furnishings. It's set part of the way up precipitous
Countisbury Hill, which accounts for the wrap-around views.
