There are few better things on a sunny southwest afternoon than a pot of tea accompan-
ied by hot scones, homemade jam and lashings of clotted cream. The main problem you'll
face is the thorny issue of how to spread your scone - Devon says it's unquestionably
cream then jam, while Cornwall maintains it's definitely jam followed by cream. Look out
for another Cornish twist on the theme known as 'thunder and lightning', in which the jam
is replaced by treacle.
