creative flavour-combos delivered with flair in a chilled-out brasserie. Its piled-high all
day breakfasts and in-between-meal snacks have won legions of local fans too. It's set
slightly south of Plymouth's edgy nightclub strip, Union St.

eatery teams wood and stone with bursts of shocking pink and lime. The food is attention
grabbing too. Try the curried West Country crab, or the sticky, maple-roast belly pork with
pears. The express menu, served at lunch and early-evening, is a great deal (two/three
courses £11/15).

The surroundings are gorgeous, and so is the cuisine. A beautifully-lit medieval building
sets the scene for reinvented British and French classics; Bodmin moor venison carpaccio,
risotto with wild garlic and Vulscombe goat's cheese. Considering the quality, the set
lunch (Tuesday to Saturday only) is a bargain (two/three courses £14/17).
Drinking
A proper Navy city, Plymouth has a very lively nightlife. Union St is clubland, Mutley
Plain and North Hill have a studenty vibe, while on the Barbican there are more restaur-
ants amid the packed-out bars. All three areas get very rowdy, especially on the weekends.
