harbour-view room at this 18th-century cottage and you'll probably see seals bobbing
around in the waters below. Winding staircases lead to compact but cute bedrooms with
cherry wood furniture and brass bedsteads. There's also a neighbouring two-up-two-down
cottage, complete with galley kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and lounge with cracking water
views.

version has turned the downstairs of this 18th-century cottage into a spacious two-storey
guest lounge. The narrow staircases feature exposed stone and rope handrails, while bed-
rooms are all modern, with movement sensitive lighting and sleek fitted cabinets. Still, it's
the absorbing harbour views that steal the show.

here for the breakfasts alone. Former chef Pam's speciality is cheese and black pepper
muffins with bacon and poached eggs, and the sideboard groans with fresh strawberries,
melon, pineapples and prunes. The rooms are smashing as well: stylish in slate grey, duck-
egg blue or gentle gold. Each has posh biscuits and fluffy bathrobes, too.

with Brixham's fishing industry and stock up for your barbecue: the ice-filled counters
here are piled high with what's just been landed. Picnic goodies include huge, cooked
shell-on prawns (£9 per 500g) and dressed crab (from £6 each).
