In-Depth Information
the behavior of organic thin-film transistors is disclosed and each behavior of these
transistors that is of importance, either in an advantageous or adverse way, for the
circuits in the following chapters is revealed.
The subject of Chap. 3 is the design of organic amplifiers. First the design flow of a
single-stage differential amplifier is elaborately documented and both simulation and
measurement results are presented to verify the postulated decisions and trade-offs
during the design. Subsequently, also the design of more-stage operational amplifiers
is discussed and measurement results of the presented circuits are provided.
The design of analog-to-digital converters is treated in Chap. 4 . A topological
study about the feasibility of ADCs in organic technology is presented first. It is
followed by the design and the measurement results of an organic
ADC follow.
Subsequently, the integration of sensors in the existing technology is investigated
in Chap. 5 . In this chapter the implementation of 1 D and 2 D capacitive touch sensors
is treated and measurement results are presented.
Next, Chap. 6 explores the domain of organic DC-DC converters. An extensive
theoretical comparison between different topologies is given first, followed by the
presentation of a few chip designs of a Dickson DC-DC converter.
Finally, the general conclusions of this dissertation are drawn in Chap. 7 . Also, the
main contributions of this work are summarized and the impetus is given to future
work.
