Hostería Mirador del P ayne This hostería is par t of an antique estancia just
outside the park, and it boasts a commanding vie w of the P aine Massif rising behind a
grassy field and Lake Verde. If you really want to get away from crowds, this is your hotel,
although it doesn't put y ou directly near the par k's trail heads. The rooms are in a unit
separate fr om the main lodge, which has a r estaurant, bar, and fir eside lounge. The
hostería offers horseback-riding oppor tunities that include a chance to corral cattle and
assist with other ranch duties. Access to the hostería is via one of two ways: by a road that
branches off befor e arriving at the par k or b y a moderate 2-hour trail that leads to the
park administration center. Guests arrive by road, but more than a fe w opt to end their
stay her e with a horseback ride to the par
k administration center to continue onto
another hotel within the park's boundaries.

Hotel Las Torres Patagonia Kids This used to be an original wor king cattle
estancia, sitting at the trail head to the Torres. But due to r ecent expansion, it 's now a
full-blown hotel, with traffic to match. The complex no w includes a lo w-slung, ranch-
style hotel, a two-stor y hotel wing next door , a large campgr ound, and a hostel. Their
on-site stables, and access to the Towers is convenient; however, it is a long driv e to the
other side of the par k. Las Torres recently inaugurated a small spa, with mud therapy ,
massage, and sauna. The buffet-style restaurant is above par, but pricey.
The hotel offers expensive packages that include guided tours, meals, and transpor ta-
tion, much like E xplora, and excellent off-season trips to little-explor ed areas. Packages
run from 3 to 7 nights, or y ou can pay separately for day trips. Try spending 2 nights
here and 2 at Hostería Lago Grey, thereby avoiding the steep price of an excursion there.
Rooms have no views.

Patagonia Camp Kids Moments The most appealing new lodging option in the
area is a camp for gr own-ups. With a mountaineer's heart and a luxur y bent, this is not
a hotel, it's an experience in natur e. Set on a slope abo ve Lago del Toro, with stunning
views of the P aine massif , its lay out is similar to safari camps found in the African
savanna. There are 18 wood-framed yurts (Mongolian-inspired wood-framed tents) situ-
ated along wooden walkways tucked a inside beech for est. Incredibly bright, cozy, and
plush, the yur ts hav e high-end touches, such as wo ven blankets, central heating, and
copper shower heads. Each has a luxurious bathr oom with a soaker tub . But it's not a
walk in the par k: If you have trouble sleeping, you may curse the tents that flap loudly
in a strong storm. If the night's clear though, you'll have delightful stargazing from your
bed. If it's raining, you'll get wet here just going from place to place. But the atmosphere
is incredibly natural, secluded, and romantic. In the main lodge, meals (and pisco sours)
are ser ved. Their all-inclusiv e packages, again, mirr or those of E xplora, but P atagonia
Camp is much more quiet and intimate.
