Caranegra Ku Parrilla Moments REGIONAL In a heritage house just nor th of
the downtown core, this is a mountain grill, with tr out, lamb, and your usual selection
of beef cuts. M ore-unique meats include v enison, wild boar , and buffalo . I lo ved the
sweet-and-sour venison with local fr uits. The wine list is one of the best in to wn. The
historical ambience adds style and r omance.

El Regional BREWPUB/REGIONAL The picadas here ar e massiv e plates of deli-
cious local nibbles, like smoked meats, oliv es, cheese, and pickles, ser ved with dip and
fresh breadsticks. They're great for sharing. The fish and seafood here is brought in fresh
from Chile, making it the best in to wn. The atmosphere is a bit hectic and harried, but
it's definitely unassuming. There are more than 10 different artisan-brewed beers on tap
as well. If you get here before 8:30pm for dinner, ask for a discount!

La Costa del Pueblo Kids INTERNATIONAL This restaurant is a good bet, with
a lake view and an extensive menu with everything from pastas to parrilla. The establish-
ment ran as a cafe for 20 y ears until ne w owners expanded it to include a doz en more
tables and a cozy fir eside nook. La Costa offers good, homemade pasta dishes such as
cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and walnuts, grilled meats, pizzas, and sandwiches. A kid'
menu and v egetarian sandwiches help please any cr owd. The restaurant is a gr eat place
to down a cold beer and a platter of smoked cheese and venison while you watch the lake
lap the shore. Just don't come here in a rush; service can be really slow.

La Fondue de Betty FONDUE A San Martín classic, Betty's friendly service and
bubbling fondue pots make this cozy restaurant an enchanting place for dinne, especially
if you are with friends. Cheese fondue is the classic star ter. Follow it with either beef
bourguignon (beef in oil), which comes with six sauces, or beef chinoise (beef in br oth).
Both come with fr ench fries. A local fav orite is bagna cauda, a Northern Italian fondue
of anchovies, garlic, and cr eam, in which y ou dip v egetables. The menu also includes
some nonfondue dishes, such as tenderloin with mushroom sauce and trout with saffron.
The wine list is very good. For dessert, don't miss the chocolate fondue, of course!

La Reserva Moments ARGENTINE This lovely old stone-and-wood house was
transformed into one of the most r omantic restaurants in P atagonia, with a stone fir e-
place, elegant cloth-covered tables, soothing music, and superb service. La Reserva is run
