shop at Mitre 360 for decades. Their restaurant near the water front is so ar chitecturally
unique you really should at least stop in for one of the locally br ewed beers and to vie w
the handsome interiors. It's very tourist-friendly. The decor includes cypress trunks that
form pillars rising from a mosaic floor also made of cypess. The menu is quite large. Start
off with an appetiz er of the smoked meats, seafood, and cheese for which the F amilia
Weiss is kno wn. There's cheese-and-beef fondue with fiv e dipping sauces; large, leafy
salads; ste wed v enison with spaetzle; grilled meats with fr esh v egetables; homemade
pastas; local trout served with ratatouille; and much, much more. A good wine list and a
kids' menu make the Familia Weiss an unpretentious crowd-pleaser.

Tarquino Moments REGIONAL Worth visiting for the ar chitecture alone, this
friendly family-run grill in fr ont of the leafy P laza Belgrano feels like a stor ybook tree-
house. After entering through a stunning wooden door that would suit a hobbit, choose
a table beside a live towering cypress tree (this is Bariloche's famous rustic building style
at its most imaginativ e). The food is good, especially the beef: There are standard grill
selections, such as bife de choriz o (a 650g/22-oz. piece of tender flank steak), por k ten-
derloin, or grilled tr out with almond sauce. The servings are large. There is also a salad
bar.

La Fonda del Tio REGIONAL The lineups tell the stor y of just ho w popular this
local joint is. A r ecent expansion will help shor ten the wait. B ut it's worth it. For more
than 22 y ears, this place has been offering Argentine family fav orites, including a wide
option of milanesas (breaded veal cutlets), with cheese, jam, tomato sauce, or hard-boiled
eggs. There's other classics, such as simple cuts of beef , that go w ell with giant fr ench
fries. Portions ar e enormous. M atch them with a soft drink (tr y the Q uatro pomelo
grapefruit soda) or a glass of table wine. This a good place to tr y real Argentine cooking
and take a break from the tourist scene.
