dirt road, on the coast of the S an Pedro Peninsula, Aldebaran is a compelling hideaway.
(Media junkies be warned: R ooms don't hav e TV.) Staying her e without a r ental car,
however, can be a headache, as each outing requires waiting for a taxi to come, and many
excursions and guides won't pick you up at a place so r emote.

Catering to stylish young couples, this hotel in Bariloche is unique
in many ways. The exterior look is ultramodern, and the location, 2.5km (1

from town amid a large gar den, is ex cellent. The interior design is contemporar y and
minimalist, with local materials such as wood, stone, and glass enhanced b y a revolving
display of local ar t. Rooms are among the largest in to wn, with light har dwood floors,
crisp cream walls, plenty of shelving, and small patios. They may r emind you of IKEA
showrooms. Ample bathr ooms have heated floors. All hav e either a jetted tub or a full
hot tub nestled beneath a bay windo w. They all hav e advanced technology appliances,
from snazzy little stereo systems to flatscreen televisions. Entrance hallways allow rooms
to stay clean and dr y. The junior suites have the best views.
The rooms are spread among four buildings, each with an outdoor elev ator. So you
must go outside to get to and fr o (and up and do wn a slight hill); br eakfast is served in
the main building.

Making full use of a strategic lakeside location, this
inn is bright, cheer y, and peaceful. I t comfortably lets the lake be the star of the scene.
Positioned below the main road, the hotel is protected from traffic noise, unlike many of
the other inns along B ustillo. The lobby is r eminiscent of an Alpine ski chalet, with a
massive fireplace and comfy couches. All r ooms have spectacular vie ws overlooking the
lake. Rooms are large, with wood floors and neutral colors that let the gorgeous blues of
the lake shine. D ownstairs, a warm indoor/outdoor pool is open y ear-round. The
grounds also encompass a vast garden with a private beach and barbecue.

Villa Huinid is a top-notch choice for trav elers looking for indepen-
dent accommodations outside town. Facing the lake, just 2.5km (1

center, the complex is backed b y a thick forest with a walking trail. There are 12 cabins
handcrafted of knotty cypress, and a new hotel complex with 50 high-level rooms. Cab-
ins have stone fireplaces, lovely decks with a full-size barbecue, and a handsome decor of
floral wallpaper, plaid bedspr eads, and craftsy furnitur e. The units come as four-, six-,
and eight-person cabanas with fully stocked kitchens. In the main building, spacious and
bright standard rooms have a cozy, country cottage style. The bathrooms are sumptuous,
with wooden sinks and hydro-massage tubs. There is a large spa with a spectacular pool.
Service here is very good.
