furniture, and claustrophobic restaurant. Located 4 blocks from the terminal, the three-
story modern to wn house has a spotlit lobb y with white cube furnitur e; small, clean
rooms; and decent bathrooms with glass bowl sinks. It is relatively well maintained and
adequate for those who want a brief stay and quick getaway. Though, it must be said, the
neighborhood could be better.

NH Panorama The NH Panorama is a 14-story brick box typical of the dreary archi-
tecture that has swamped Córdoba in recent years. Inside you'll find the marble counter-
tops, sleek wood paneling, and minimalist furnitur e typical of this Spanish-owned hotel
chain. The panorama of the title is a lovely view of the city plaza and distant hills, but be
sure you get a high, w est-facing room as other wise you might just see mor e red-brick
boxes. The location is per fect and the r ooftop pool a w elcome respite in summer. The
restaurant could be better and the elev ators faster, but, in general, the NH is a v ery effi-
cient and businesslike hotel, much like its clientele.

Windsor Hotel & Tower This centrally located hotel is the best choice near Plaza
San Martín. Ask for a room in the more modern tower, built in 1999, rather than in the
“Classic” section, where the rooms are ridiculously small. Rooms with king-size beds are
larger than those with two twins. Also new are the rooftop pool, fitness room, and sauna.
The fifth-floor Oxford restaurant enjoys an impressive view of the city, with good inter-
national cuisine. Piano music fills the lobb y after 9pm, and the hotel staff will organiz e
city tours and mountain excursions.

Tango Hostel Córdoba is not long on the backpacker radar. The first hostel to estab-
lish itself as the place to thr ow your gear down is the Tango Hostel. This small, modern
town house has a worn but homey feel, and its main asset is two extr emely helpful own-
ers. The four-bed dorms are not too claustrophobic, and the series of rambling commu-
nal rooms—TV salon, dining ar ea, small bar, and little cour tyard—means that ther e is
