good-value experience. The lodge also organizes horseback riding excursions.

Hostería Lunahuana This is the best modern option in the to wn, with ex cellent
ambience and top-notch facilities. The modern building is built in the colonial style,
with a welcoming lobby of warm ear th colors and large windo ws that give lots of light.
Scarlet walls lead to a large bar and tempting fir eplace. The rooms are ample and attrac-
tive, some with lovely garden views and beautiful furniture. The bathrooms are smallish
but clean, with tub/shower combinations. The larger triple rooms have a mezzanine. This
hostería is for those who like modern luxuries.

Hotel Tafí The Hotel Tafí is a very basic hotel with beautiful views that will suit those
who are not too fussy. Modern and plain, its deceptiv ely pleasant lobby/breakfast room
has tall ceilings and polished wooden floors. The rooms themselves are somewhat of a
letdown, with little or no ambience and low, creaking beds. The furniture is monkish and
decor nonexistent. However, the view in the morning is spectacular, with large windows
revealing a pleasant garden and panoramic view of the valley and fields. Despite its pas-
toral surr oundings, the hotel is located in the hear t of the to wn. It's a decent budget
option but with little atmosphere compared to the similarly priced Estancia Los Cuartos.

La Guadalupe This orange adobe lodge does not lack color: Multicolored sombreros
hang on corn-yellow walls, and lamps hang from a ceiling of wooden beams. The rooms
are welcoming, with private bathrooms and floral murals. Out front is a large pond, and
behind are green rolling hills. A popular restaurant serves regional and international fare,
and the delightful tearoom dishes out quality cakes and pastries.

La Rosada Hosteria A mismatch of modern and colonial, La R osada has a nice
central courtyard with pink walls, strangely covered by a large metal shed. It feels like you
are eating breakfast in a war ehouse. However, you cannot fault the r ooms for the price;
they're some of the biggest I hav e ever stayed in, designed to accommodate up to four
couples. Everything is newish and immaculately clean. The tiled bathrooms are well fit-
ted, with tub/sho wer combinations. Located in the to wn center, La R osada is a good
choice for groups or families traveling on a budget.
