Bloomers Small and quirky, Bloomers is a unique and charming place to stay in the
city center. This is not a bed-and-breakfast but a “bed and brunch,” indicating the some-
what colorful, bohemian aspect of this boutique hotel. Wacky rugs and arty lamps adorn
the five rooms, along with huge ceramic urns and luminous, cube-shaped beanbag-type
chairs. One room has a regal flavor, with pink walls, an elegantly hung mosquito net, and
silk cushions. The bathrooms are a decent siz e, with color ful, mosaic-style tiling. S ome
rooms are bigger than others (ask for one out front), and only two have air-conditioning.
Public spaces include a small garden and barbecue terrace but no pool.

Hotel A lmería This ne w hotel has an old-fashioned efficiency about it. The
deceptively mediocre white facade, complete with flagpoles, leads to a spacious marble
lobby with a gold-trimmed elev ator. Plush, upholstered hallways lead to modern, w ell-
fitted r ooms that hav e dar k-wood furnitur e and custom-made headboar ds with inset
light switches. The spot-lighting and chr ome fittings in the all-white bathr ooms add to
its modern, comfor table feel. I ncluded in the price is use of the mar velous solarium

upstairs, with a giant Jacuzzi and splendid view of the city.

Posada del Angel This is a tidy little boutique hotel located in the heart of the city.
It has a homey , villa feel with par quet floors and small cour tyard. The brass beds ar e a
little on the small side and the cur tains a little loud, but, in general, r ooms have a very
cool ambience. An inviting librar y is one of its most distinctiv e charms. Come her e if
you're laid-back and bookish.
