Inexpensive
Hosteria Los Helechos Value This is the best budget choice located in the heart of
town. The pale-yellow building has a simple design but a cozy feel, with wooden window
frames looking in on a large lobb y complete with a tr opical fish tank. The rooms are
pretty basic, but some have windows framed in greenery overlooking a plant-filled court-
yard. All have air-conditioning but incur an extra charge of $10 (£5.50) if it 's used. The
breakfast room is somewhat plain, but clean, and the common r oom is an inviting mix
of big sofas, ceiling fans, and r ed-brick walls.

Hotel Lilian Value Somewhat stark and plain and eerily quiet during the day , the
Hotel Lilian is a budget hotel that could do with a little mor e—perhaps some pictur es
on the walls and some plants out fr ont. However it is per fectly suitable for those just
passing through for a night or two, and the price is a good v alue. Situated on a quiet
residential street that is 5 minutes fr om downtown, it has a big light-filled lobb y and
rooms that are somewhat small and dar k, yet clean and comfor table. The all-important
air-conditioning works just fine, as do the modern open showers in the small bathrooms.
