Puerto Cristal INTERNATIONAL/SEAFOOD The menu here has everything,
but fish is why patrons choose this restaurant above all the others in Puerto Madero. The
place is enormous, with friendly hostesses and theatrical waiter ser vice; a constant flurry
of fr esh silv erware and dishes will cr oss y our table betw een courses, befitting a much
pricier establishment. Windows overlooking the port and glassed-in central garden amid
the dining ar ea lend tranquillity to the industrial-chic design. G reat lunch specials ar e
part of the draw here; their executive menu runs about $15 (£10) and usually includes a
glass of champagne (though other drinks and the table co ver will be additional).

Piegari ITALIAN You would not expect to find such a fine r estaurant under a
highway overpass in a par t of Recoleta dubbed “La R ecova,” meaning poultr y business.
Piegari has two r estaurants located acr oss the str eet from each other; the mor e formal
focuses on I talian dishes, while the other (P iegari Vitello e D olce) is mainly a parrilla.
Both restaurants are excellent, but visit the formal Piegari for outstanding Italian cuisine,
with an emphasis on seafood and pastas. H omemade spaghetti, six kinds of risotto, pan
pizza, veal scallops, and black salmon ravioli are just a few of the mouthwatering choices.
Huge portions are made for sharing, and an ex cellent eight-page wine list accompanies
the menu. I f you decide to tr y Piegari Vitello e D olce instead, the best dishes ar e the
short-rib roast and the leg of Patagonian lamb.
Posadas 1042 (at Av. 9 de Julio in La Rec ova, near the Four Seasons Hotel). & 11/4328-4104. Reserva-
tions recommended. Main courses $25-$45 (£17-£30). AE, DC, MC, V. Daily noon-3:30pm and 7:30pm-

La Bourgogne FRENCH The only R elais G ourmand in Argentina, Chef
Jean Paul Bondoux serves the finest French and international food in the city here. Travel
+ Leisure magazine rated La Bourgogne the number-one r estaurant in S outh America,
and Wine Spectator called it one of the “Best Restaurants in the World for Wine Lovers.”
Decorated in elegant pastel hues, the formal dining room serves the city's top gourmands.
To begin your meal, consider a warm foie gras scallop with honey-wine sauce, or perhaps
the succulent ravioli d'escargots. Examples of the carefully prepared main courses include
Chateaubriand béar naise, r oasted salmon, v eal steak, and lamb with parsley-and-garlic
sauce. The kitchen's fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, and spices originate fr om Bondoux's
private farm. Downstairs, La Cave offers a less formal experience, with a different menu,
though the food comes from the same kitchen. Wine tastings are offered Thursday in the
restaurant's wine-cellar ar ea, called Cave de Vines; contact La Bourgogne dir ectly for
details.
